CE Opportunity From Dentsply!

Course Title: Clinical Pathways for Screw-Retained, Full Arch Fixed Restorations Including Bars, Bridges and Hybrids

While there are many recommended protocols for fixed implant solutions for the edentulous patient that appear to accelerate treatment time and reduce cost, some protocols, if not well managed, may be at the expense of the best treatment outcome for the patient. The main objective of this course is to provide attendees with a repeatable and predictable method in delivering an immediate and delayed screw-retained, full arch fixed bridge and hybrid. During this course, decision trees and clinical cases will be presented to provide guidelines for treatment of edentulous patients as well as patients with "hopeless" dentition. In addition, tools to evaluate the cost and fee structure for implant service will be discussed.

A bit about Dr. J. Bonk, educator for the Implant Provisional course

Meet Dr. Bonk

For Dr. Bonk, playing the role of educator keeps him on his toes and sharpens his mind because he is able to share his knowledge and skills of advanced restorative dentistry by providing advice, leadership, and support to other dentists.

As a Faculty/Clinical Advisor for the General Practice Residency Program at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL, he works with the graduate dentists once a month and also mentors participants in the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

In addition, he’s committed to continuous education, and has spent many hours refining and mastering his skills through attendance at the continuums of the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. In May 2005, Dr. Bonk received the designation of Pankey Scholar and has recently been awarded a prestigious position as a visiting teaching faculty member at the Pankey Institute. Additionally, he has completed the educational series of the Spear Institute, and joined Spear Education as a member of the Anterior Live Patient Faculty, and, since the spring of 2009, he has been faculty member in the Anterior Live, Occlusion, and Treatment Planning courses offered at the Scottsdale facility.

In addition to this, he presents lectures around the country to dentists about advanced restorative dentistry. He has spoken to the Sacramento Dental Society and to the Pankey Alumni.

Dr. Bonk graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in 1981. Following his graduation, he entered a one-year General Practice Residency at the Loyola Medical Center (formerly Foster G. McGaw Hospital), providing advanced training in the dental specialties of periodontics, oral surgery, and prosthetics, as well as training in hospital medicine and treatment of medically compromised patients. He also has been admitted to the exclusive Great Lakes Study Club.

In 1982, Dr. Bonk entered private dental practice in the medical professional buildings of Good Shepherd Hospital, and later moved to his present location at Old Northwest Center.

Dr. Bonk has lived in the area for more than 30 years, and makes his residence in Crystal Lake. He has been active in many organizations within the area, specifically with the Boy Scouts of America and the local Soccer Association.
